How this calculation works and what it assumes
- Cumulative mortality = deaths ÷ birds placed × 100.
- Many commercial broiler flocks aim to stay under about 5 percent for the full cycle, but your own history is the better benchmark.
- A sharp daily rise matters more than the total figure.
Reading the number honestly
- First-week deaths often reflect chick quality, transport or brooding.
- A steady trickle usually points to management: temperature, water, density or feeder access.
- A sudden spike needs qualified attention the same day.
- Always record deaths daily; a monthly total hides the pattern that would have warned you.
