Feed conversion ratio calculator
FCR is total feed eaten divided by total live weight produced. A ratio of 1.7 means 1.7 kg of feed for every kilogram of chicken. Lower is better, and every 0.1 you save is money straight back into the cycle.

How this calculation works and what it assumes
- FCR = total feed eaten ÷ total live weight produced. Lower is better.
- Modern broilers commonly finish between 1.5 and 1.8 under good management.
- Feed wasted on the floor counts against your FCR, so measure feed issued, not feed eaten in theory.
What pushes FCR up
- Feed spilled on the floor from overfilled or low feeders.
- Poor-quality or stale feed.
- Disease and parasites.
- Heat stress reducing growth while feed still gets eaten.
- Overcrowding, so weaker birds never reach the feeder.

Common questions
What is a good FCR for broilers?
Under good commercial management, 1.5 to 1.8 is typical by six weeks. Anything above about 2.2 usually points to wastage, feed quality or health problems.
